The Challenge
Skyscanner wanted to bid to revenue within SA360, but these revenue calculations occurred offline rather than on the page at time of conversion. The challenge was to upload these conversions onto SA360 so that they could be used across Microsoft, Yahoo and Yandex, as well as Google to drive business objectives. There are ~2m conversions monthly.
How we helped
Brainlabs build a bespoke data pipeline for Skyscanner based on their own data storage systems. A program was developed to accept data from an Amazon S3 bucket and upload it into Google Cloud.
From there the data is verified and cleaned to be accepted by SA360. Checks and notifications are also built within Google Cloud to expose if there are issues with the data on a particular day.
We finally use the conversion API to push conversion data into the platform, including redundant data uploads to account for any upload errors. This process runs daily.
The Results
Uploading in excess of 2 millions conversions a month for Skyscanner utilising an automated system not only saved them time it meant that we unblock a number of other features for them to use in SA360. Bidding towards their business objectives rather than a proxy, enhanced reporting using u-variables, ATB using smart bidding in Google Ads and more!
